SouthSounds is not just music!  There will also be lots of great arts and culture events and other happenings going on in Downtown Mobile during SouthSounds weekend, all showcasing the unique and quirky flavor of the South.

LoDa ArtWalk (April 13)

The April 2018 LoDa ArtWalk will take place in coordination with SouthSounds on Friday, April 13, from 6:00-9:00 pm throughout Downtown Mobile.  More information is available here.

SouthSounds Arts & Craft Market (April 14-15)

The Mobile Arts Council is organizing an Arts & Crafts Market featuring one-of-a-kind arts and crafts produced by local artisans. It will be take place on Saturday April 14 through Sunday April 15, 2018. Timeframe: 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Location: Cathedral Square (300 Conti Street), Downtown Mobile. SouthSounds Music Business Workshop (April 14)

From 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 14, SouthSounds and Dauphin Street Sound will be presenting a series of informative music business discussion panels and a music industry networking happy hour at the Dauphin Street Sound recording studio (651 Dauphin Street), moderated by Jared “Jay B.” Boyd.  This event is designed for up-and-coming musicians wanting to take their careers to the next level, and anyone else who wants to learn more about the business side of music.  Details and schedule are below:

Startup Weekend Mobile (April 13-15, with finale events open to the public on April 15)

Startup Weekend and Techstars will be hosting Startup Weekend Mobile 2018 at The Steeple on St. Francis throughout SouthSounds weekend.  Startup Weekend is a 54 hour entrepreneurial competition co-sponsored by Google for Entrepreneurs and Techstars. Friday evening, 75 contestants of all ages and walks of life will come together at The Steeple in downtown Mobile to pitch their ideas for a business. After voting on the 8 best ideas, contestants form teams around these top ideas on Friday night. Throughout Saturday and Sunday, the teams receive constant feedback and advice from coaches that are challenging them to validate their idea and to develop a Minimum Viable Product. Finally, the weekend concludes Sunday evening with a high-energy pitch competition where the teams pitch their businesses to a panel of highly-qualified judges for a chance to win an exciting prize package.  For more information (including for tickets to participate) go here.
